What Is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an ancient healing art developed in Asia, and has been practiced there for more than 2000 years, Asian medicine teaches that there is an energy system within the body, and in good health it flows smoothly.
When this inner energy or Qi becomes blocked due to injury or stress, we feel pain. Or, it may become diminished due to illness or hard work,
Acupuncture harmonizes the inner energy of the body, which then promotes natural healing, and increases your energy level and sense of well being.
How does Acupuncture work?
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine hair-like needles, at specific acupuncture points in the body. These points are gateways into the body's energy system, which flows along invisible meridians or pathways. The trained Acupuncturist has the ability to remove blockages of energy, and is able to stimulate the body's ability to regenerate it. This rebalancing of the body's energy promotes healing.
Asian medicine looks at all aspects of your health - physical, mental and emotional, to determine a pattern to be treated, which is uniquely suited to you. So, for example, the treatment for a headache or insomnia may be very different for you and someone else. |
