The interview
Your first acupuncture consultation will begin with a patient interview, discussing the conditions you would like to have treated, evaluating your present condition and setting benchmarks so progress can be monitored.
The treatment
Once this evaluation is completed, Bridgit will analyze all of the information, and decide which acupuncture points would be most beneficial for you. As you relax on the padded treatment table, peaceful
music will provide a relaxing background as Bridgit uses her gentle touch to rebalance the energy within your body. A typical acupuncture session lasts an hour to an hour and a half. Many people experience some benefit immediately after the session, and are often relaxed yet energetic too.
Bridgit practices both Chinese and Japanese styles of acupuncture, and will choose whichever seems most appropriate for you on each visit. She may also use cupping for tight muscles, or gentle warming moxa.
All needles used are sterile and disposable.
Chinese style Acupuncture
In Chinese style acupuncture the practitioner looks at the tongue, feels the pulse and assesses all the symptoms for determining a pattern to treat.
Japanese style Acupuncture
In Japanese style acupuncture the practitioner gently palpates the abdomen for sensitivity and tightness as well as feeling the pulse. Emphasis is placed on meridian imbalances, and generally, fewer needles are used.
Cupping
This involves the use of multiple glass cups applied with suction to relieve the pain of sore and tight muscles
Moxa Therapy
This is an ancient and very effective technique that warms by burning a small amount of the moxa herb to bring heat deeper into the body. |
